WhatsApp for iOS is now introducing access keys to enhance security by offering an alternative to passwords. Initially exclusive to Android users, this feature is now being extended to iPhone users by Meta.
WhatsApp for iPhone will soon be compatible with access keys.

The beta version of WhatsApp for iPhone, as reported by WABetaInfo, includes the feature to set up access keys in the app, but this functionality is not yet active.

Access keys, also known as passkeys, were created by FIDO Alliance in partnership with companies like Google, Apple, and Microsoft. They allow users to access apps without passwords and can include biometric options like facial or digital recognition.
To utilize access keys on your iPhone, iOS 16 or a newer version must be installed along with Safari or iCloud Keychain apps. With iOS 17, this functionality has been expanded to third-party apps, enabling unlocking via Face ID or Touch ID.
Email verification
WhatsApp login can also be validated through email verification instead of SMS, which was introduced in November 2023 to enhance security by reducing the risk associated with using phone numbers, which can be cloned.
