The iPhone 17 is expected to feature a 24-megapixel front camera and significantly improved image quality, according to an expert.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that the front camera of the iPhone 17 will be enhanced to 24MP by 2025, with potential upgrades also planned for the iPhone 16 cameras.

The front camera of the iPhone 17 will receive an enhancement to a 24MP/6P lens, a major improvement from the 12MP/5P lens used in the iPhone 15 and 16 models. This information was shared in a blog post focusing on the prominent lens supplier, Genius.

iPhones 16 will feature enhancements as well.

Kuo mentions that Genius is on track with the development of the periscope lens for the iPhone 16 Pro, indicating that the new model may be larger than previous versions to accommodate this feature.

The iPhone 16 Pro series will upgrade its ultra-wide camera to 48MP/0.7um/(1/2.6) from the previous 12MP/1.0um/(1/3.6) seen in the iPhone 15 Pro. This enhancement is anticipated to boost image quality substantially to 12MP.

Kuo anticipates that the 2024 iPhone Pro models will feature bigger screens, leading to a 5-10% rise in demand for replacements compared to the iPhone 15 Pro series.

Can Kuo be relied upon?

The analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is known for being a trustworthy source of information. He has been incorporating his own predictions based on experience along with the information he receives. However, he asserts that the details about the lens are sourced from his research in the supply chain.

Rumors suggest that all iPhone 17 models may come with the always-on display feature currently exclusive to Pro models.
