Netflix has stopped creating movies and interactive shows.

In the last seven years, Netflix has introduced 28 Interactive Specials, but there are signs that this trend may be ending based on a recent report.

Netflix launched this feature in 2017 with a focus on family-friendly content, including adaptations like Carmen Sandiego, The Boss Baby, and Jurassic World, as well as original series like Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

Netflix appears to be moving away from this structure to concentrate on its endeavors in the gaming sector. As of November 2021, the company has launched close to 100 games for mobile and cloud platforms.

Technology constraints

Mike Verdu, who leads Netflix’s gaming division, stated in an interview with Stephen Tolito that the technology for interactive specials has limitations, which hinders the company’s creativity in this aspect. Nonetheless, Verdu indicated that Netflix Stories for mobile devices will maintain this format.

Netflix Stories, which began with Love is Blind last year, has now grown to include La Casa de Papel.

Boss Fight Entertainment, an internal studio of Netflix, created these games for users to experience storylines within the series’ universes. The games are exclusively accessible on Android and iOS devices and necessitate a separate download.

Interactions and Updates in the Catalog’s Special Offerings

Currently, the platform offers 25 specials and interactive series, with some having been taken down over the years. The first to be removed was Minecraft: Story Mode, and it was followed by DreamWorks Animation’s interactive specials, including the most recent one featuring Puss in Boots.

Not all special programs have aired in Brazil yet. Have you tried any? I believe the most well-known one was the one with Bear Grylls. Share your thoughts on your experience with it below.
