Apple surpasses Samsung to become the top global smartphone leader.

In the 2023 report, Apple surpassed Samsung to become the top global smartphone seller after a 12-year dominance by Samsung. Apple sold a record-breaking 234.6 million iPhones, while Samsung experienced a 13.6% decline with 226.6 million sales, according to the U.S. research firm IDC.

Apple surpasses Samsung and is the top smartphone company worldwide.

Apple implemented a unique strategy involving aggressive promotions and trade-in deals, enabling the company to capture a market share of 20.1%, exceeding Samsung’s 19.4%.

Samsung concentrated on the mid-to-high range market to make a profit, but neglected the low-end market and as a result, lost its top spot globally.

Apple’s success in the worldwide smartphone market is overshadowed by its recent struggles, possibly due to the competition in reclaiming the top position as the most valuable company globally, which it lost to Microsoft. Apple’s current value stands at $2.83 trillion, while Microsoft leads with a market value of $2.91 trillion.

The year 2024 shows great potential.

Canalys predicts a positive outlook for the smartphone market in 2024, based on increased sales forecasts and a recent 8% growth in smartphone sales in the fourth quarter of 2023. Despite Apple’s leadership, the company is encountering challenges in maintaining its dominance and market position.
